Welcome to my photography home.

I enjoy portrait photography and candid street work, as well as macro photography, although my "small world" images aren't quite the same insect and flower work you'll see in many other sites. I do some portrait, artifact and museum gallery work professionally, but I still love just getting out with the cameras and looking for great candid photos.

This is the only photo site where you will see bulldogs dressed as kings, a girl with a peacock face, fiddles made by hand, a wild variety of plum bobs, and David Crockett's first rifle, all in the same place. You can even discover where the phrase "Old Stogies" came from, and what it originally meant to say "I'll be there with bells on."

Please recognize that the images are copyrighted and cannot be used for any purpose without permission. The exception, of course, is in specific galleries like History Day, where I have opened the photos to free download. In those cases, the images may be used for any personal purpose, as long as they are not sold or used in any commercial enterprise. Thank you.

By default I've become the official photographer of the Historical Society. I recorded the entire construction sequence for the new permanent gallery, Voices of the Land: The People of East Tennessee, and that series may be viewed here, as well as my images from the Grand Opening, and past temporary exhibits.

I drew inspiration from the amazing portrait work of Pierre Dubeau in Toronto (http://matrixone.zenfolio.com/), the incredible macro work of Ronnie Gaubert in Louisiana (http://www.pbase.com/ronnie_14187/profile), the landscape work of Ricardo Alves (http://www.pbase.com/ricardoalves), the nature photography of Frans Lanting (http://www.franslanting.com/gallery/index.php) and many others.

By far my favorite site for the selected works of many photographers is One Exposure (http://1x.com/). There are also many stunning images on photo.net (http://photo.net/gallery/).

For professional advice my bedrock, absolutely dependable online sources are Bjorn Rorslett (http://www.naturfotograf.com/) and Lloyd Chambers (http://diglloyd.com/diglloyd/blog.html).

Thank you for visiting.
