The Harrington Oak

The Harrington Oak, which I am told is a scarlet oak. The crown of this tree covers 2/3 of the area of a city block. It isn't very high, but it measures 7 feet in diameter on one dimension, 8.4 feet on the other. It sits next to a permanent spring, so it has never experienced drought. Steep slopes to the east and west protect it from high winds.
